JOB TITLE: Senior Director of Engineering - AI Platform
The Senior Director of Engineering - AI Platform leads a global organization within the Machine Learning Engineering group to drive the AI software strategy for Snapdragon Compute platforms. This leader oversees AI systems, model enablement, and software integration across Windows, Android, and Linux PCs. Key responsibilities include defining technical roadmaps for generative AI, multimodal AI, and agentic AI, while managing co-engineering engagements with Microsoft and various OEMs. The role involves optimizing AI workloads across NPU, GPU, and CPU architectures, ensuring high performance for large language models and computer vision. Required expertise includes proficiency in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras, alongside programming languages such as Python, C, and C++. The position solves complex problems in on-device AI performance, power efficiency, and memory utilization.
Define and execute the AI software strategy for Snapdragon platforms across Windows, Android, and Linux.
Lead co-engineering activities with Microsoft on WinML, ONNX Runtime, Copilot+, and next-generation Windows AI capabilities.
Drive the optimization of AI workloads across NPU, GPU, and CPU heterogeneous compute architectures.
Oversee the onboarding, quantization, and deployment of generative AI, multimodal, and large language models.
Establish benchmarking strategies and performance targets to ensure leadership in industry AI benchmarks.
Build and lead a global engineering organization responsible for AI systems, model enablement, and software integration.
Manage cross-functional dependencies between silicon, firmware, drivers, operating systems, and developer tools.
Ensure the timely delivery of AI features aligned with product milestones and customer commitments.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 10+ years of Hardware, Software, or Systems Engineering experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 9+ years of Hardware, Software, or Systems Engineering experience.
PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware, Software, or Systems Engineering experience.
5+ years of experience with Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch, or Keras (preferred).
5+ years of experience with low-level interactions between operating systems (Linux, Android, QNX) and hardware (preferred).
5+ years of experience in embedded system development and optimization for ML domains like NLP or multi-media (preferred).
10+ years of experience with programming languages suitable for machine learning such as Python, R, C, or C++ (preferred).
8+ years of experience using statistics and probability, such as conditional probability and Bayes rule (preferred).
