TL;DR · Senior Director, AI Technical Programs

Senior Director, AI Technical Programs leads the company’s AI initiatives to support the Process Support Engineer community. This role involves managing a small team of AI practitioners to build, scale, and harden GenAI solutions that automate workflows, improve knowledge access, and enhance technical troubleshooting for field teams. The position requires overseeing end-to-end technical programs, including roadmap ownership, risk management, and cross-functional alignment with Business Units and IT partners. Key responsibilities include developing "AI-ready" content, implementing retrieval systems, ensuring data governance and security compliance, and delivering hands-on training to the field. Candidates must possess expertise in AI/ML, GenAI, knowledge systems, and model lifecycle management. The role addresses the challenge of providing consistent technical guidance and reducing cycle times by integrating disparate capabilities into optimized tools for engineering workflows within a global manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Build AI solutions to automate repetitive workflows, summarize technical content, and improve information retrieval for Process Support Engineers.
  • Develop and maintain "AI-ready" knowledge bases with appropriate security controls and intellectual property protections.
  • Create practical chat and search interfaces to provide consistent guidance and faster access to validated technical methods.
  • Evaluate and select external AI platforms, models, and tools through pilot programs to improve engineering productivity.
  • Manage the end-to-end program roadmap, including defining success metrics, tracking risks, and reporting outcomes to leadership.
  • Lead a team of AI practitioners to prototype, build, and integrate scalable solutions into existing systems.
  • Design and deliver hands-on training and playbooks to ensure the engineering community can effectively use new AI tools.
  • Align cross-functional capabilities from different business units into a unified set of optimized AI solutions for field use.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in CS, Data Science, Engineering, or related fields is preferred.
  • 10–15 years of experience leading cross-functional technical programs and delivering AI/ML or GenAI solutions in an enterprise setting.
  • Proficiency in building practical GenAI/AI solutions for engineering workflows including data governance, security, and model lifecycle management.
  • Expertise in knowledge systems and retrieval to structure information for both human use and AI consumption.
  • Ability to manage large technical programs including scope, schedule, priorities, risks, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Experience leading a team of practitioners to prototype, build, and scale AI solutions.
  • Skill in influencing stakeholders across different business units and aligning multiple capabilities into optimized solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into simple terms for both leadership and engineering teams.
