TL;DR · Senior Design Validation Engineer, Intelligence Systems

JOB TITLE: Senior Design Validation Engineer, Intelligence Systems The Senior Design Validation Engineer joins the Intelligence Systems team to own the end-to-end validation of custom hardware designs for Intelligence Community customers. You will partner with hardware, firmware, FPGA, and systems teams to plan validation campaigns, design custom hardware test fixtures, and write software or firmware to automate measurements. Key responsibilities include identifying electronic test equipment, executing verification in a hardware lab for high-speed digital, precision analog, RF, and high-power domains, and performing root cause analysis on failures. Required skills include proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and data acquisition systems, alongside experience with Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB. You will interpret schematics and PCB layouts to ensure designs meet requirements for national security applications in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end validation effort for custom hardware designs from initial planning to final shipping.
  • Develop validation plans that map design requirements to specific tests, pass/fail criteria, and electrical standards.
  • Design and build custom hardware test fixtures and write the necessary software or firmware to exercise designs.
  • Identify, specify, and configure electronic test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers for validation campaigns.
  • Execute design verification and qualification activities in a hardware lab for high-speed digital, analog, RF, and high-power domains.
  • Drive root cause analysis on validation failures and coordinate with design teams on corrective actions.
  • Document validation results and author technical reports to support program milestones and customer deliverables.

What we're looking for

  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in hardware design validation, test engineering, or hardware product development with substantial validation responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring and executing design validation plans (DVPs) against written requirements.
  • Hands-on proficiency with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and PCB layouts to plan targeted validation coverage.
  • Experience developing custom hardware test fixtures and supporting software/firmware using Python, C/C++, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, and FPGA devices and their bench bring-up procedures.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and associated failure modes.
  • Experience validating designs with high volume production requirements (preferred).
  • Experience executing qualification test campaigns to MIL-STD-810 and familiarity with test methods (preferred).
  • Experience executing EMI/EMC test campaigns to MIL-STD-461 and working with accredited labs (preferred).
  • Experience with signal integrity and power integrity validation including eye diagrams and jitter analysis (preferred).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and instrument control using SCPI, VISA, or Python (preferred).
  • Experience validating designs intended for harsh or deployed environments such as ruggedized, airborne, or space (preferred).
