Senior Data Scientist, Personalization & Relevance

What you'll do

• Develop and improve recommendation, ranking, relevance, and personalization approaches for the digital shopping experience.
• Build deep representations of customer intent, product understanding, and shopping context.
• Apply modern ML approaches using open-source and pre-trained resources like embeddings and generative AI.
• Design offline evaluation frameworks that accurately predict online customer outcomes.
• Design and analyze online experiments to measure the impact of new personalization approaches.
• Connect candidate generation, ranking, and feedback signals into a coherent, reusable personalization system.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based approaches to increase research and experimentation velocity.
• Mentor scientists and establish strong technical practices across the data science team.

What we're looking for

• Minimum of 6+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science or Machine Learning roles.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Deep experience with recommendation systems, ranking, personalization, search, or information retrieval.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning, deep learning, experimentation, and statistical evaluation.
• Experience with embeddings, neural ranking, transformers, or related modern ML techniques.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, including working with large-scale data.
• Experience using AI tools and applying LLM or agentic approaches to real problems.
• Familiarity with cloud ML platforms such as Google Vertex AI or AWS machine learning pipelines (preferred).
