Senior Backend Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Build web applications to orchestrate simulation frameworks, digital twin validation, and V&V automation workflows.
• Develop Unreal Engine 5 interfaces to render real-time 3D visualizations of factory operations and manufacturing processes.
• Design and implement tooling to verify that manufactured output matches engineering intent and design specifications.
• Build frontend and backend systems that integrate with simulation frameworks like OMNeT++, SimPy, and Gazebo.
• Develop automated V&V pipelines for integration tests, validation checks, and compliance verification across manufacturing domains.
• Architect data pipelines connecting CAD models, PLM data, and real-time factory sensors into unified workflows.
• Deploy and operate software systems in factory environments, including edge compute clusters and OT networks.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support production factory systems.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years of experience in a software engineering role building production systems.
• Deep expertise in web development with mastery of backend systems.
• Strong technical fluency in modern software architectures, APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, and cloud or edge infrastructure.
• Proficiency with backend technologies including JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and Go.
• Experience with real-time 3D engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) or advanced 3D visualization frameworks.
• Experience building systems that operate reliably under real-world operational constraints like high availability or low latency.
• Strong understanding of 3D graphics, rendering pipelines, and data visualization for complex geometric or spatial data.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or OT-adjacent domains (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 for industrial visualization or digital twin applications (preferred).
• Experience building verification and validation (V&V) systems or test automation frameworks for manufacturing, aerospace, or defense (preferred).
• Background in computational geometry, CAD/CAM systems, or visualizing 3D geometric data (preferred).
• Experience with simulation frameworks like OMNeT++, Simulink, SimPy, Gazebo, or CARLA (preferred).
• Familiarity with frontier AI tooling and AI-enabled software development workflows (preferred).
• Experience in hyper-growth startup-like environments (preferred).
• Familiarity with enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, WMS, PLM, or requirements management tools (preferred).
• Experience with real-time data visualization, WebSocket-based architectures, or streaming data into 3D engines (preferred).
• Experience in manufacturing industries with hands-on exposure to assembly lines or production environments (preferred).
• Understanding of digital twin architectures, federated simulation systems, or event-driven architectures at scale (preferred).
• Experience with GraphQL, real-time data subscriptions, or high-performance data streaming (preferred).
• Knowledge of requirements traceability, formal verification methods, or compliance frameworks in regulated industries (preferred).
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (preferred).
