Senior AI Researcher

What you'll do

• Produce research advances in Generative AI to improve model capabilities for networking automation and human-computer interaction.
• Build purpose-built large language models to secure and optimize Cisco’s networking, security, and observability infrastructure.
• Drive pre-training initiatives to develop foundational models that provide unique competitive value across the product portfolio.
• Research domain-specific foundational representations relevant to networking to provide differentiable value across diverse applications.
• Publish research in top-tier AI venues and give technical talks to establish Cisco as a global thought leader.
• Integrate research breakthroughs into tangible business solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams of engineers and strategists.

What we're looking for

• Must have a Bachelor's in computer science with experience, a Master's with , or a PhD with .
• Must have experience with LLM pre-training and post-training within an industry or academic research lab.
• Must have a minimum of 3 publications within top AI venues such as ACL, EMNLP, ICLR, ICML, NAACL, or NeurIPS.
• Must have experience working with Machine Learning Models (MLMs) and familiarity with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face.
• Must have prior experience driving research projects within an industry or university research lab.
• Interest in combining representation learning and problem-specific properties (preferred).
• Experience in building, fine-tuning foundation models including LLMs and multi-modal models (preferred).
• Ability to maintain cutting-edge knowledge in generative AI and apply it innovatively to business problems (preferred).
