JOB TITLE: Senior AI Research Scientist The Senior AI Research Scientist joins the Foresight team to develop and incubate transformative emerging technologies and products. In this role, you will conduct basic and applied research on probabilistic, causal, and simulation-based models to support decision making under uncertainty. You will build interpretable and trustworthy reasoning systems, specifically focusing on methods that enable LLMs to reason over structured business data. Key responsibilities include mentoring junior scientists, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate scientific methods into decision-support capabilities, and engaging with the academic community through publications. Required expertise includes deep learning architectures, reinforcement learning, neuro-symbolic AI, and agentic systems. You must demonstrate proficiency in Python using TensorFlow or PyTorch to solve complex problems within the fintech product area.

What you'll do

Conduct basic and applied research on probabilistic, causal, and simulation-based models.
Develop methods that enable LLMs to reason over structured business data.
Translate scientific AI methods into decision-support capabilities for customer-facing products.
Identify intermediate milestones to achieve long-term ambitious research goals aligned with Intuit products.
Mentor junior AI Scientists and interns through goal setting and technical direction.
Engage with the academic and research community through publications and presentations.

What we're looking for

PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on AI/ML/Data Science.
5+ years of experience conducting theoretical or applied research with a demonstrated capability of defining and driving research projects.
Established track record of publication, ideally demonstrated through first-author publications in top-tier AI conferences.
Deep technical expertise in machine learning, including probabilistic modeling, causal inference, time-series forecasting, reinforcement learning, and neuro-symbolic AI.
Experience with developing and debugging in Python with Tensorflow, Pytorch, or similar frameworks.
Experience disseminating new technical ideas to the scientific community through open sourcing, publications, and presentations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with team members, product technologists, and other stakeholders.
