The Senior 6-DOF Simulation Engineer joins the guidance, navigation, and control team within the Tactical Reconnaissance and Strike Division. This role involves building and maintaining high-fidelity 6 Degree of Freedom simulation software and digital twins for various autonomous drone vehicles. Key responsibilities include developing simulation solutions for algorithm development, maintaining Software-In-The-Loop and Hardware-In-The-Loop tests, and performing characterization work for aerodynamics, optics, actuators, and IMUs. The engineer will collaborate with flight software teams to define requirements and integrate GNC software while reviewing test data to verify performance. Required technical skills include proficiency in C++, Matlab, Simulink, Simulink Embedded Coder, and Python. The role focuses on modeling linear and nonlinear dynamic systems, including rotorcraft dynamics and sensors, to solve complex navigation problems in contested environments.
Develop 6DOF simulation solutions for Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithm development.
Build and maintain high-fidelity digital twins and simulations for various drone vehicles.
Develop and maintain Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) tests.
Perform characterization work for aerodynamics, optics, actuators, and IMUs for fixed-wing and rotorcraft.
Review test data from flight control systems to verify performance and debug GNC algorithm behavior.
Define requirements and integrate GNC software in coordination with the flight software team.
Create mathematical models for aerodynamics, rotorcraft dynamics, sensors, and actuators.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with exceptional skills in dynamic systems and control.
Master’s Degree or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a focus on dynamic systems and control (preferred).
8 years of professional experience in Modeling & Simulation for supporting airborne platforms.
Demonstrated proficiency in C++, Matlab, Simulink, Simulink Embedded Coder, and Python.
Extensive experience in modeling and simulation of linear/nonlinear dynamic systems.
Extensive experience in the mathematical modeling and simulation of aerodynamics, rotorcraft dynamics, sensors, and actuators.
Experience in Monte-Carlo simulations and flight test data analysis tools and processes.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
