TL;DR · Staff Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer, Air Dominance & Strike, Advanced Effects

Staff Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer - Air Dominance & Strike - Advanced Effects joins the Flight Engineering team to drive the design, development, and testing of advanced aerospace systems. This role focuses on creating high-fidelity virtual representations of various vehicles, including subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic autonomous systems. You will develop and maintain simulation architectures for Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms while managing Software-In-The-Loop, Hardware-In-The-Loop, and Pilot-In-The-Loop configurations to support safe flight tests. The position requires expertise in aerospace systems, flight dynamics, and platform physics. Key technical requirements include proficiency in C/C++, scientific Python libraries like NumPy and SciPy, and MathWorks products such as MATLAB and Simulink. You will solve complex problems involving Monte-Carlo analysis and test data processing to advance the development of tactical missile systems and strategic weapons within a fast-paced engineering environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity virtual representations of various aerospace vehicles and subsystems.
  • Create simulation solutions for Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithm development.
  • Implement and manage Software-In-The-Loop (SITL), Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL), and Pilot-In-The-Loop (PITL) systems.
  • Perform Monte-Carlo simulation analysis to evaluate system performance.
  • Develop tools and processes for analyzing simulation and flight test data.
  • Model complex subsystem and system-of-system dynamics by collaborating with multi-disciplinary experts.
  • Define simulation requirements and develop efficient modeling solutions for internal and external customers.
  • Manage the end-to-end configuration of SITL, HITL, and PITL systems to support safe flight tests.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience.
  • Experience with aerospace/aeronautical systems (including missiles, rotorcraft/VTOL) and/or subsea vehicles.
  • Experience in flight dynamics, platform physics, and control.
  • Proficiency with C/C++.
  • Advanced proficiency with scientific computing systems including Mathworks products and scientific Python.
  • Experience with flight test data processing, sim correlation, and developing models for Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.
