As a Secure Systems Engineer - Platform Architecture Security Team, you will join the Platform Architecture group to protect advanced consumer devices by ensuring they remain secure from the factory floor through daily use. Your day-to-day work involves building prototypes and tooling to automate policy enforcement, managing security policies across complex systems, and leading cross-functional teams to resolve system-level issues. The role requires proficiency in Python, Go, C, or C++, along with expertise in cryptography, PKI, TLS, Key Management, Secure Boot, and authentication protocols. You will also utilize DevOps practices like CI/CD and infrastructure as code to maintain high availability while ensuring end-to-end security guarantees for the product ecosystem.

What you'll do

Define security requirements and architecture for distributed systems that enforce product security policies.
Identify emerging threats and develop threat models for internal services.
Manage security policies to ensure end-to-end security guarantees across all Apple products.
Build prototypes and tooling to validate security designs and automate policy enforcement.
Lead cross-functional teams through the service lifecycle to resolve system-level issues while maintaining performance.
Advocate for robust security design and best practices across various engineering teams.
Proactively incorporate emerging security trends into PKI architecture and signing policies.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related engineering field, or equivalent job-related experience.
Experience applying security practices to the design, development, or operation of production services.
Proficiency in common programming languages such as Python or Go.
Experience conducting security architecture reviews, threat modeling, or identifying vulnerabilities in complex distributed systems.
Experience with cryptography and security protocols including at least two of: PKI, TLS, Key Management, Secure Boot, or Authentication/Authorization.
10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Experience designing and developing secure services and scalable infrastructure for high-availability applications like microservices or cloud platforms.
Experience with systems programming languages such as C or C++.
