Join the Platform Architecture Security Team as a Secure Systems Engineer to protect advanced consumer devices by securing the infrastructure that supports them. You will define security requirements, oversee distributed systems architecture, and manage policies enforced during the development, manufacture, and operation of products. Your daily work involves identifying emerging threats, developing threat models, building prototypes to validate designs, and automating policy enforcement while leading cross-functional teams through the service lifecycle. The role requires proficiency in Python, Go, or C/C++, along with expertise in cryptography, PKI, TLS, Key Management, Secure Boot, and authentication protocols. You will solve complex problems regarding end-to-end security guarantees for products handling personal data. Candidates should possess skills in threat modeling methodologies like STRIDE, as well as experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and scalable micro-services.
Define security requirements and architecture for distributed systems that enforce product security policies.
Identify emerging threats and develop threat models for internal services.
Manage security policies to ensure end-to-end security guarantees across all Apple products.
Build prototypes and tooling to validate security designs and automate policy enforcement.
Lead cross-functional teams through the service lifecycle to resolve system-level issues while maintaining performance.
Advocate for robust security designs and best practices across engineering teams.
Proactively incorporate emerging security trends into PKI architecture and signing policies.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
Experience applying security practices to the design, development, or operation of production services.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Go.
Experience with cryptography and security protocols including PKI, TLS, Key Management, Secure Boot, or Authentication/Authorization.
Experience conducting security architecture reviews, threat modeling, or identifying vulnerabilities in complex distributed systems.
10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Experience designing and developing secure services and scalable infrastructure for high-availability applications like microservices and cloud platforms.
Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), or automation of deployment pipelines.
