The Satellite Systems Engineer, Space Networking Solutions joins the Amazon Leo for Government Engineering team to develop complex satellite systems for government and international customers. This role involves owning space segment architecture and integration challenges, including preliminary concept development, trade studies, CONOPS definition, and requirements decomposition. You will perform technical data analysis, manage systems configurations, and coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure mission functionality. Key responsibilities include participating in software-to-hardware integration, flatsat testing, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. You must utilize standard electronic lab test equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and function generators. The work focuses on solving space-based and terrestrial application problems by optimizing satellite system architecture and ensuring rigorous systems engineering processes throughout the entire development life cycle.
Perform preliminary concept development, trade studies, and CONOPS definition for space segment systems.
Execute requirements decomposition, allocation, interface definition, and verification/validation processes.
Develop integrated satellite system designs by deep-diving into subsystem functions and interfaces.
Participate in software-to-hardware integration and test activities for pre- and post-launch operations.
Perform technical data analysis to maintain systems configurations and optimize satellite architecture.
Resolve cross-functional technical issues using facts and data to determine optimal technical approaches.
Develop and improve systems engineering processes and rigor.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
5+ years of experience in space systems engineering principles, technical performance budgets, requirements analysis, and configuration management.
4+ years of experience in spacecraft systems engineering, spacecraft design, or a related field with hands-on satellite design and integration experience.
4+ years of experience with the derivation and maintenance of requirements from a system level down to lower levels.
Hands-on experience with spacecraft integration, flatsat testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or mission operations.
4+ years of experience using standard electronic lab test equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance of TS/SCI.
