TL;DR · RWA Principal Protocol Engineer

As a RWA Principal Protocol Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical author of the Nasdaq Token Design Standard, creating the canonical specification for representing public equity on-chain. You will be responsible for mapping TradFi concepts to on-chain designs, managing token issuance, compliance controls, and corporate actions while maintaining a reference implementation library. The role involves defining governance mechanisms, selecting chain infrastructure, and designing architecture for institutional trading workflows. You will utilize expert-level Solidity skills, with Rust experience as a plus, to build low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems. Key technical requirements include deep knowledge of smart contract security, gas optimization, and token standards like those involving DTCC or SWIFT. This role solves the complex problem of representing regulated assets in a commercially viable ecosystem by bridging capital markets infrastructure with blockchain technology.

What you'll do

  • Author and maintain the Nasdaq Token Design Standard for representing public equity on-chain.
  • Map traditional finance concepts like corporate actions and settlement mechanics to on-chain designs.
  • Develop and maintain a reference implementation library with clear versioning and documentation.
  • Define governance mechanisms to balance institutional stewardship with ecosystem viability.
  • Lead chain selection strategy and integration architecture based on performance and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish performance, scalability, and reliability standards for high-throughput trading infrastructure.
  • Serve as the technical lead for integrations with custodians, trading venues, and market providers.
  • Represent Nasdaq as a technical authority through industry engagement and publication of standards.

What we're looking for

  • Must have 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Must have 4+ years of experience in smart contract or protocol-level development.
  • Requires expert-level Solidity experience and preferred Rust experience.
  • Must have proven experience deploying security tokens or regulated asset contracts on public or permissioned blockchains.
  • Must possess a deep understanding of smart contract security, audit governance, and gas optimization.
  • Must have a deep understanding of token standards, corporate actions, settlement infrastructure, and U.S. equity market mechanics.
  • Requires experience building low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems in trading or digital asset environments.
  • Authorized to work.
