As a RWA Principal Protocol Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical author of the Nasdaq Token Design Standard, the canonical specification for representing public equity on-chain. You will map TradFi concepts to on-chain designs, owning the evolution of token issuance, transfer restrictions, compliance controls, and corporate actions. Your daily work involves authoring a reference implementation library, defining governance mechanisms, and leading chain selection strategies for performance and regulatory defensibility. You must possess expert-level Solidity experience, with Rust experience as a plus, and a background in smart contract security, gas optimization, and distributed systems. The role requires deep knowledge of U.S. equity market mechanics, institutional trading workflows, and settlement infrastructure like FIX and ISO20022 to build high-throughput, low-latency platforms for tokenized asset ecosystems.
Author and maintain the Nasdaq Token Design Standard for representing public equity on-chain.
Map TradFi concepts like token issuance, compliance controls, and corporate actions to on-chain designs.
Develop and maintain the reference implementation library with clear versioning and documentation.
Define governance mechanisms and performance standards for low-latency, high-throughput protocol components.
Lead chain selection strategy and integration architecture for public and permissioned infrastructure.
Serve as technical lead for integrations with custodians, trading venues, and market infrastructure providers.
Represent Nasdaq as a technical authority through industry engagement and standards participation.
What we're looking for
8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in smart contract or protocol-level development.
Expert-level Solidity experience; Rust (Solana/Substrate) experience is a plus (preferred).
Proven deployment of security token or regulated asset contracts on public or permissioned blockchains.
Deep understanding of smart contract security risks, audit governance, and gas optimization.
Deep understanding of token standards, corporate actions, record dates, settlement infrastructure, and U.S. equity market mechanics.
Strong understanding of trading systems, market structure, and institutional capital markets workflows.
Experience building low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems in trading, exchange, market infrastructure, fintech, or digital asset environments.
