As a Repair Development Engineer, you will join the Repair Development Team to support sustaining programs for Large Combat and Engine customers. You will develop, qualify, and industrialize new repair and inspection technologies for high-precision turbomachinery components, including F110, F101, F118, J85, and TF34 engines. Your daily responsibilities include managing program deliverables to transition processes into repair facilities, providing engineering oversight of vendors, and leading multi-disciplinary project teams. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, and engine assembly departments to ensure technical requirements are met. The role requires expertise in mechanical design, analysis, GD&T principles, and lean or continuous improvement models. You will solve complex technical problems while managing cost and schedule progress to improve customer readiness and reduce lifecycle costs for critical military and commercial aircraft components.
Develop new repair and inspection technologies to improve producibility and meet updated process requirements.
Qualify and industrialize new repair processes for deployment into manufacturing and repair facilities.
Execute program deliverables including documentation and implementation readiness to transition processes into operations.
Provide engineering oversight of existing vendors and lead projects related to future repair opportunities.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams to ensure alignment and accountability across engineering, manufacturing, and assembly.
Track and communicate cost and schedule progress while proactively identifying risks for internal and external stakeholders.
Resolve technical problems using engineering judgment and documentation within established procedures.
Serve as the primary interface between customers and GE to explain technical information clearly.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college is required.
A High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of repair/development engineering experience is acceptable as an alternative to a degree.
Candidates must have at least 4 years of relevant experience.
You must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) to access export-controlled information.
Desire to be hands-on and collaborative in repair shop environments (preferred).
Foundational understanding of mechanical design, analysis, GD&T principles, and repair of high-precision turbomachinery components (preferred).
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for collaboration with internal/external customers, vendors, and interdisciplinary engineering teams (preferred).
Ability to analyze and solve technical challenges with disciplined documentation, planning, and program management skills (preferred).
