The Quality Engineer, Rights & Pricing joins the Rights & Pricing engineering team to ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of complex backend pricing systems. This role involves validating backend services, APIs, and pricing workflows across Apple Services, specifically managing distribution rights, retail, offers, wholesale, and tax calculations. You will execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing while developing automated tests and utilities using Python, Java, Kotlin, or Go. Key responsibilities include collaborating on feature design, debugging failures across APIs and logs, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI. You will also utilize frameworks like pytest or JUnit and perform data validation with SQL to ensure accuracy within distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing for backend services, APIs, and pricing workflows.
Develop and maintain automated tests and utilities using maintainable code integrated into shared infrastructure.
Debug failures across APIs, services, and logs using structured diagnostic approaches to support root cause resolution.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline automation, including test integration, execution reporting, and release validation workflows.
Measure and improve test reliability, automation coverage, and execution efficiency using defined quality metrics.
Evaluate and apply AI-assisted testing tools to reduce manual overhead and accelerate feedback cycles.
Produce structured quality status updates, risk summaries, and release readiness assessments for stakeholders.
What we're looking for
1 to 5 years of professional experience in software quality engineering, QA automation, software testing, or a related software engineering discipline.
Programming proficiency in Python or another modern, object-oriented language like Java, Kotlin, or Go to write maintainable test code.
Demonstrated experience testing backend systems, REST APIs, or service integrations, including validation of response contracts and data integrity.
Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests using a structured framework such as pytest, JUnit, or TestNG.
Working familiarity with REST API concepts and tooling including HTTP methods, status codes, Postman, and curl.
Working familiarity with CI/CD pipeline concepts and how automated tests integrate into build and release workflows.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with SQL, distributed systems, cloud/containerized environments, or validating complex financial and pricing workflows (preferred).
