TL;DR · Principal Test & Evaluation Engineer, Networked Battlefield Systems

Principal Test & Evaluation Engineer - Networked Battlefield Systems serves as the senior technical authority for test and evaluation across the Connected Warfare portfolio. This role provides high-level oversight, mentorship, and technical guidance to teams managing complex, multi-system test campaigns involving software-enabled hardware and pure-software systems. You will be responsible for developing verification strategies, ensuring requirement traceability, conducting root-cause investigations on system anomalies, and representing the division during government technical exchanges. The role requires deep expertise in RF communications, tactical datalinks, networked C2 systems, and MIL-STD test protocols. Candidates must possess extensive experience in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration, software-in-the-loop (SIL) environments, and CI/CD pipelines. You will solve complex technical problems across various platforms including sensor/mission autonomy systems to ensure robust performance in DoD operational environments while fostering the reuse of test infrastructure and tools across multiple programs.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for test strategy across multiple complex, high-risk, or multi-system programs.
  • Review and strengthen verification strategies to ensure they meet customer requirements and scale across software and hardware systems.
  • Identify and drive the reuse of test infrastructure, tooling, and lessons learned across different programs in the division.
  • Provide technical mentorship and escalation support to lead engineers to resolve complex integration and testing problems.
  • Lead Test Readiness Reviews and other critical milestones while representing the company's test posture to government stakeholders.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements through validation results and monitor defect closure metrics at a division level.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations on difficult system anomalies that cross program boundaries in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Represent the T&E team during design reviews and technical exchanges with government customers and partner organizations.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10-14+ years of experience in system-level test and evaluation of integrated hardware/software systems.
  • 8+ years of experience operating in a technical leadership or test lead capacity.
  • Proven expertise in RF communications, tactical datalinks, and networked C2 systems in DoD environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and technically direct other engineers across multiple concurrent programs without formal management authority.
  • Deep familiarity with DoD and industry test processes, including MIL-STD protocols and government verification practices.
  • Active or immediately eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance; Top Secret/SCI is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for test execution at ranges and field sites.
