JOB TITLE: Principal / Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer
The Principal / Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer joins the Joint Tactical Ground Station program to support the U.S. Space Force. This role involves performing comprehensive security assessments, including compliance audits and vulnerability scanning, to identify weaknesses and implement secure configurations. You will develop technical standard operating procedures, manage system enhancements, and ensure compliance with NIST SP800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting system failures and utilizing tools like Trellix Endpoint Security Solutions, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners. The position requires proficiency in RHEL command line, Windows PowerShell, and Hyper-V or VMware. You will work on a ground station that processes data from infrared satellite sensors to provide near-real-time warning and cueing information on ballistic missile launches and other tactical events.
Perform comprehensive security assessments, compliance audits, and vulnerability scanning to identify system weaknesses.
Implement secure configurations aligned with NIST SP800-53 security and privacy controls.
Analyze information systems and network devices to assess the operational and security impacts of configuration changes.
Troubleshoot and resolve system failures and performance issues in a timely manner.
Operate cybersecurity tools including endpoint protection platforms, SIEM tools, and vulnerability scanners.
Develop and maintain technical standard operating procedures, cybersecurity documentation, and related information artifacts.
Support the development of security engineering inputs for program documentation and security authorization packages.
Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and security.

Active DoD Secret security clearance is required.
For Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 5 years of relevant cybersecurity experience with a Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field.
For Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field.
For Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 9 years of relevant cybersecurity experience with a Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field.
For Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in cybersecurity or a related STEM field.
Active IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+) certification is required.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 RMF, SP 800-53 controls, and DISA STIGs is required.
Intermediate proficiency in RHEL OS command line and/or Windows PowerShell is required.
Moderate to advanced knowledge of Trellix Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of security risks, SIEM, antivirus, proxies, firewalls, and intrusion detection (preferred).
Experience with gaining/maintaining ATO accreditation and working with ISSO/ISSM (preferred).
Experience in creating, editing, and updating program CDRLs (preferred).
Expert knowledge with Trellix Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) (preferred).
Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware (preferred).
Working knowledge and experience with Splunk (preferred).
Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and principles for release management (preferred).
Experience with satellite communications ground systems and/or missile warning systems (preferred).
Experience supporting US Space Force development or sustainment programs as a defense contractor (preferred).
Working knowledge and/or experience with JIRA for task assignment, status tracking, and execution (preferred).
