As a Principal, Software Engineer, you will join the Marketplace Platform Reliability team to define the technical direction for core capabilities within WatchTower, the engineering operating system for Marketplace. You will design and build highly scalable distributed systems and platforms that improve reliability, developer productivity, and operational intelligence for thousands of engineers. Your daily work involves solving complex engineering problems, influencing architecture across multiple teams, and mentoring engineers without direct organizational authority. You will utilize cloud-native architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern software engineering practices to drive innovation through AI, automation, and observability. This role focuses on developing robust platform software and operational tooling to enhance engineering standards and system performance while optimizing operational efficiency across the Marketplace organization.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering.
7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Deep expertise in designing and building large-scale distributed systems or platform software.
Strong background in cloud-native architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern software engineering practices.
Experience leading architecture across multiple teams and influencing technical direction through engineering leadership.
Experience with developer platforms, operational tooling, AI, observability, or infrastructure engineering.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers and leaders across large organizations.
Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience (preferred).
