As a Principal, Software Engineer, you will join the Marketplace Platform Reliability team to define the technical direction for WatchTower, the engineering operating system for Marketplace. You will design and build highly scalable distributed systems and platforms that improve developer productivity, operational intelligence, and system reliability for thousands of engineers. Your daily work involves solving complex engineering problems, influencing architecture across multiple teams, and mentoring engineers without direct organizational authority. You will utilize cloud-native architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern software engineering practices to drive innovation through AI, automation, and observability. This role focuses on creating robust platform capabilities and engineering standards to support business growth while optimizing operational efficiency and maintaining high-quality standards across the Marketplace organization.

What we're looking for
Obtain a Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 5 years of experience.
Possess 7 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
Demonstrate deep expertise in designing and building large-scale distributed systems or platform software.
Possess a strong background in cloud-native architecture, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern software engineering practices.
Experience leading architecture across multiple teams and influencing technical direction through engineering leadership.
Experience with developer platforms, operational tooling, AI, observability, or infrastructure engineering.
Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 3 years of experience (preferred).
Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies (preferred).
