Principal Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and develop high-performance data-plane components for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Solve complex, low-level systems and performance problems in distributed environments.
• Develop core infrastructure using C++, C++, or Rust to support large-scale cloud services.
• Implement distributed consistency protocols such as Raft, Paxos, or Multi-Paxos.
• Manage high-concurrency systems involving indexing strategies, data partitioning, and transaction management.
• Make critical architectural decisions for major data-plane components in a multi-tenant environment.
• Mentor team members and guide engineers toward shared technical objectives.
• Drive and improve cross-team processes to enhance engineering efficiency.

What we're looking for

• Must have 6 to 10+ years of experience in the field.
• Must have at least 8 years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and willingness to work with Rust.
• Experience in high-concurrency systems and low-level, performance-critical system design.
• Knowledge of distributed storage, WAL, indexing (B-tree, LSM), Raft/Paxos, and MVCC transaction management.
• Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
• Proven ability to mentor teams and lead large-scale projects in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with geographically distributed teams.
