As a Principal Software Engineer - Apache Cassandra within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will join an experienced engineering group to manage one of the largest internal database platforms and Cassandra implementations globally. You will be responsible for building automation and self-service tooling for Cassandra across both private and public clouds while focusing on consumer-driven requirements and customer experience. Your daily work involves providing technical expertise throughout the software lifecycle, developing frameworks to increase developer velocity, and integrating enterprise-authorized AI capabilities into infrastructure architecture analysis and delivery routines. You will utilize technologies including Java, Python, Spring Framework, Spring-Boot, SaltStack, and Ansible within Unix/Linux environments. The role addresses complex problems in database reliability engineering, distributed systems, and large-scale software development to provide a world-class platform for critical systems while ensuring all automated outcomes remain traceable, auditable, and secure.

What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
Understanding of cloud, virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages.
Software development experience in Java, Python, Spring Framework, Spring-Boot, Salt, or other general-purpose languages.
Advanced experience with at least two of: web apps, databases, Unix/Linux, distributed systems, information retrieval, networking, or large-scale software.
Experience with automation and configuration management tools like SaltStack and Ansible, including Linux configuration knowledge.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering with strong validation habits.
Knowledge of Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) concepts and agile/lean philosophies.
Experience with UI/UX development, open-source contributions, or DynamoDB optimization (preferred).
