Principal Scientist – Protein Formulation & Biophysical Characterization (High-Concentration Biologics) is a hands-on, laboratory-focused scientific leadership role within the biologics and vaccines formulation group. The scientist will design and execute experimental studies to develop and optimize protein formulations for modalities such as mAbs, fusion proteins, bispecifics, and antibody-drug conjugates in liquid and lyophilized forms. Key responsibilities include utilizing biophysical and physicochemical characterization to mitigate risks like aggregation and viscosity while building scalable screening methods and predictive tools. The role requires expertise in techniques including DLS, DSC, DSF, SEC-MALS, NTA, CD, FTIR, and fluorescence spectroscopy. This position addresses the technical challenge of enabling high-dose, patient-centric biologic delivery, specifically focusing on subcutaneous administration for high-concentration biologics. The successful candidate will also serve as a subject matter expert to provide cross-functional guidance on formulation and device selection.
Design and execute experimental studies to optimize protein formulations for various biologic modalities in liquid and lyophilized forms.
Perform biophysical and physicochemical characterization to assess and mitigate risks such as aggregation, viscosity, and stability.
Develop scalable formulation strategies, screening methods, and predictive tools for high-concentration biologics.
Serve as a technical subject matter expert to provide formulation guidance for device selection and project development decisions.
Lead cross-functional teams focused on the development of subcutaneous delivery systems for the biologics portfolio.
Generate scientific content for publications, conference presentations, and participation in industry consortia to build external visibility.
Analyze complex data sets to provide actionable insights and contribute technical input to regulatory documentation.
What we're looking for
PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biophysical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
3–5 years of relevant experience in biologics formulation, biophysics, or drug product development.
Strong background in protein formulation for parenteral biologics.
Hands-on experience with a broad suite of biophysical and analytical characterization techniques including DLS, DSC, DSF, SEC-MALS, NTA, CD, FTIR, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Ability to design and interpret multi-technique characterization studies and communicate actionable insights from complex data.
Familiarity with parenteral dosage forms and delivery considerations.
Demonstrated scientific output through publications or conference presentations is preferred.
