The Principal Offsite and Modular Engineer serves as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert within the infrastructure team. This individual contributor role focuses on developing scalable offsite-manufactured and prefabricated infrastructure platforms to support cloud and AI capacity demands. Key responsibilities include defining modular infrastructure strategies for electrical, mechanical, controls, and utility systems, establishing standardized design approaches, and managing manufacturing partnerships. The engineer will oversee engineering requirements for e-houses, cooling plants, and power distribution systems while ensuring seamless integration into data center standards. Required skills include expertise in industrial infrastructure, modular construction, and electrical distribution. The role utilizes BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and digital engineering methodologies to solve deployment speed and construction risk problems through factory-built solutions, Factory Acceptance Testing, and integrated systems testing.
Develop and drive modular infrastructure strategies for electrical, mechanical, controls, and utility systems.
Establish standardized modular design approaches to improve scalability, repeatability, and deployment speed.
Define engineering requirements and design standards for modular electrical rooms, cooling plants, and power distribution systems.
Partner with manufacturers and suppliers to develop scalable modular products and evaluate production quality.
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), product validation, and manufacturing readiness reviews.
Oversee the transportation, site integration, installation, and commissioning of modular infrastructure systems.
Research emerging technologies and modular construction methodologies to influence the long-term infrastructure roadmap.
Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of engineering best practices across the organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related technical field.
10+ years of experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, manufacturing, modular construction, or large-scale capital projects.
Experience designing or deploying prefabricated and modular infrastructure systems.
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, cooling infrastructure, controls, or utility systems.
Experience working with manufacturing partners, fabricators, EPC firms, and commissioning teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives through influence and expertise.
Experience supporting hyperscale cloud or AI data center infrastructure (preferred).
Knowledge of BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, digital engineering, and design-for-manufacturing methodologies (preferred).
