JOB TITLE: Principal Mission Systems Engineer, Air Dominance & Strike, Active Clearance The Air Dominance and Strike team seeks a Principal Mission Systems Engineer to develop end-to-end missionized autonomous air systems. In this role, you will drive mission outcomes by selecting, sourcing, and validating mission-relevant payloads and systems. Daily responsibilities include conducting trades for communications, sensing, and effector systems, architecting multi-function payload concepts, and developing physics-based models for simulation tools. You will manage subcontractors and internal teams to define subsystem requirements and integrate capabilities into aircraft designs. Required expertise includes RF and IR systems, plus experience with analytical toolchains like MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, and Ansys. You will solve complex technical problems involving secure tactical data links, EO/IR, ESM, EA, EW, and LIDAR to deliver high-performance autonomous capabilities for defense applications.

What you'll do

Conduct trades for communications, sensing, and effector systems to achieve specific mission outcomes.
Architect autonomous multi-function payload concepts, including requirements, layouts, interfaces, and employment strategies.
Develop and adapt physics-based models of payload system performance with subject matter experts.
Create validated effects-based models for use in mission-level modeling and simulation tools.
Validate system performance in close cooperation with test and integration engineers.
Manage subcontractors and internal development teams to define subsystem requirements and drive technical performance.
Integrate and deliver high-performance autonomous systems to customers.

What we're looking for

Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Must have 15+ years of experience in a relevant Science and/or Engineering related field.
Must have 2+ years of experience at the Architect level or as a Chief Engineer.
Must have experience owning the full scope of new aircraft design.
Must possess expertise in RF and IR.
Must understand the physics behind the systems being built beyond the first order.
Knowledge of current and next-generation advanced communications, sensing, and effector systems (preferred).
Advanced proficiency in analytical toolchains or languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, COMSOL, or Ansys (preferred).
