Mainframe Software Engineer The Mainframe Software Division is seeking a Mainframe Software Engineer to join the Mainframe DevOps value stream. In this role, you will take ownership of the development, core architecture, and ongoing evolution of Gen, a low-code, model-driven development environment for enterprise applications. You will research, develop, and implement high-quality, secure software solutions, lead code reviews, and mentor other engineers. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting escalated customer cases, driving technical design for robust security, and authoring technical documentation. You must possess deep expertise in COBOL and IBM Assembler, with experience in zOS systems components like CICS, IMS, and DB2. Additional skills include middleware experience with TCP/IP or IBM MQ, interlanguage communications, and debugging using IPCS. You will help modernize legacy environments to meet changing industry standards.

What you'll do

Research, develop, and implement high-quality, secure software solutions to enhance Gen's core product capabilities.
Lead architectural design and technical design to ensure robust security standards and a simple user experience.
Write production code and lead code reviews for the Mainframe Software Division.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer cases escalated to the engineering team.
Mentor other software engineers and provide technical guidance across the DevOps value stream.
Author technical blogs, webinars, and documentation to serve as a public-facing subject matter expert.
Advise enterprise customers on modernization strategies and complex business requirements.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's in Computer Science with 8+ years of related experience or a Master's in Computer Science with 6+ years of related experience.
Deep expertise and hands-on coding experience in COBOL and IBM Assembler.
Experience with zOS systems components including LE, ISPF, CICS, IMS, WebSphere Liberty, and DB2.
Experience working with middleware such as ECI, TCP/IP, or IBM MQ.
Expertise in deep-dive debugging, reading system dumps, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like IPCS, and executing performance tuning.
Strong command of interlanguage communications (ILC) across hybrid environments.
Experience with SMP/E or z/OSMF.
Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree and 6+ years ofrelated.
