Principal Forward Deployed Engineer

What you'll do

• Take end-to-end technical ownership of high-stakes engagements with strategic partners and enterprise engineering organizations.
• Write production-ready code, prototypes, and integrations within customer repositories to ensure successful platform adoption.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for partner executives and engineering leadership.
• Design the team's engagement models, technical standards, and reusable asset libraries to scale operations.
• Translate field evidence into actionable product requirements to influence and change the Windows platform roadmap.
• Mentor the Forward Deployed Engineering team and establish high technical bars for code quality and security.
• Deliver measurable adoption outcomes by moving customer workloads onto Windows platforms based on agreed success metrics.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of engineering experience in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience is acceptable.
• Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check.
• Sustained record of owning technical relationships with strategic partners or major enterprise organizations (preferred).
• Experience standing up a new team, practice, or engagement model from nothing (preferred).
• Deep technical credibility across the modern developer and AI stack including LLM applications, inference, WSL, containers, and security controls (preferred).
• Solid programming ability in Python and at least one of TypeScript, C#, Rust, Go, C, or C++ with a recent record of shipping production software (preferred).
• Demonstrated influence on a platform roadmap driven by customer evidence and experience converting bespoke work into reusable assets (preferred).
