As a Principal Embedded Firmware and Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the architecture, development, security, and deployment of embedded firmware and software for computer systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components while troubleshooting issues across various subsystems. Your daily work involves developing BIOS/UEFI, EFI applications and drivers, embedded controllers, and RTOS-based systems. To achieve these goals, you will utilize C for system programming, Python for automation and tool development, and Git within Linux environments. You will also implement CI/CD and DevSecOps practices while managing firmware security features like authentication and signing. This role focuses on solving complex integration challenges and improving engineering velocity through automated testing and the evaluation of AI-assisted software development tools to enhance overall code quality and system reliability.
Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of BIOS/UEFI, EFI applications, drivers, and RTOS-based systems.
Analyze hardware and system architectures to define firmware requirements, dependencies, and integration strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issues by implementing enhancements and programming changes across subsystems.
Define and execute firmware verification and validation strategies including automated testing and regression testing.
Develop engineering tools and automation scripts using Python for debugging, testing, and data analysis.
Advance CI/CD and DevSecOps practices to improve development velocity and release confidence.
Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted tools to improve developer productivity and code quality.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's, Master's, or advanced degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
Typically 10+ years of experience in embedded firmware, embedded software, systems software, platform engineering, or a related field.
Deep proficiency in embedded C with strong software architecture and systems programming fundamentals.
Strong experience with Python for automation, tooling, testing, data analysis, or system diagnostics.
Experience with BIOS/UEFI, EFI applications and drivers, RTOS environments, embedded controllers, DSPs, or similar platform technologies.
Exceptional debugging and root-cause-analysis skills.
Strong understanding of firmware and platform security, including authentication, secure updates, and vulnerability management.
Familiarity with Git, Linux, and Agile development methodologies.
