What you'll do

  • Develop innovative machine learning algorithms and statistical models to power recommender systems and search for HBO Max.
  • Lead large technical projects by directing the work of ML and AI researchers and engineers.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify machine learning opportunities and accelerate AI innovation.
  • Design and develop scalable machine learning systems in collaboration with engineering leadership.
  • Formulate and communicate the ML/AI roadmap to internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Mentor team members on modern machine learning approaches, technologies, and best practices.
  • Establish standards for scoping, building, validating, deploying, and monitoring ML/AI products.
  • Present complex modeling results and analytical insights to senior leadership to drive business decisions.

What we're looking for

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field (PhD preferred).
  • 8+ years of work experience in Machine Learning, AI, and Data Science with a proven track record of driving innovation.
  • Strong experience in recommender systems, personalization systems, collaborative filtering, and information retrieval systems.
  • Expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling including causal inference, ensembles, neural networks, NLP, reinforcement learning, and bandits.
  • Familiarity and experience with modern large language model based techniques for recommender systems and personalization.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with big data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, Spark, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning languages and platforms including Python, TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
  • Experience in the digital media and entertainment industry (preferred).
