Principal Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Architect and develop scalable distributed systems that support horizontal and vertical scaling using distributed state management.
• Design and deliver agentic AI systems capable of reasoning, planning, tool use, and multi-step task orchestration.
• Define performance, availability, and durability requirements while optimizing services for high-throughput and low-latency cloud workloads.
• Build fault-tolerant systems featuring redundancy, automated failover, and in-service upgrades to handle network unreliability.
• Establish telemetry, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor service health, reliability, and customer impact.
• Implement secure infrastructure controls for multi-tenant cloud environments, including encryption and access management.
• Develop automation, Infrastructure as Code, and deployment tooling to support safe patching and operational recovery.
• Lead production operations by troubleshooting incidents, performing root cause analysis, and improving runbooks.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 to 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant ownership of production systems.
• Deep experience designing, building, and operating high-scale distributed systems, cloud services, or AI/ML platform services.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Golang, or Python to contribute high-quality production code and debugging in complex environments.
• Expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud-native infrastructure, service-to-service communication, scalability, fault tolerance, observability, and performance analysis.
• Experience defining SLIs/SLOs, production readiness, incident response, monitoring, tracing, and reliability programs for AI or distributed systems.
• Demonstrated ability to provide accurate software effort estimates and use agile methodologies to drive product delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to lead technical direction and influence senior stakeholders.
