As a Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer on the Edge Security team, you will lead the architecture and development of cloud-scale services for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Web Application Firewall platform. What you'll do

Lead the architecture and delivery of cloud-scale backend services for the OCI Web Application Firewall platform.
Design and evolve features including threat detection, rule evaluation, bot mitigation, and API protection.
Build distributed systems to process high volumes of HTTP/HTTPS traffic with low latency and high reliability.
Establish robust observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and performance monitoring for service health.
Lead automation initiatives across the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Drive operational readiness through capacity planning, incident response, and root cause analysis.
Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy across organizations to raise engineering standards.

What we're looking for

7–10+ years of experience building production software systems and large-scale distributed services in cloud or SaaS environments.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages including Java, Go, Python, C++, or Rust.
Expertise in distributed systems design focusing on scalability, resiliency, concurrency, fault tolerance, and API design.
Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, TLS, reverse proxies, caching, and load balancing.
Experience with cloud-native technologies including containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Experience building observability solutions using metrics, distributed tracing, centralized logging, and alerting systems.
Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture decisions across multiple engineering teams.
Knowledge of web application attack vectors, such as OWASP Top 10, and experience with WAF or API security products.
