Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer - AI Infrastructure serves as a member of the Compute AI Infrastructure Bare Metal Provisioning team, where you will own the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. You will utilize technologies such as Java, C++, Python, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, and Terraform to manage complex interactions between bare metal hardware and orchestration frameworks. This position solves critical problems at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring that new server platforms can be launched and maintained with high reliability and minimal operational overhead.

What you'll do

Design and develop software for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure.
Automate the full server lifecycle including hardware bring-up, firmware management, and instance provisioning.
Build high-performance microservices to configure and validate server platforms across a massive fleet.
Develop tools to manage interactions between bare metal hardware and full-stack orchestration frameworks.
Debug and optimize low-level systems including Linux, Docker, Java web services, and Terraform.
Design broad distributed system interactions for large-scale, highly available infrastructure.
Partner with internal teams to ensure new server platforms launch with minimal operational overhead.

What we're looking for

6 to 10+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems, Linux development, and systems debugging.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming in C++ or Java and scripting in Python or Bash.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
Working familiarity with networking protocols like TCP/IP and HTTP, along with standard network architectures.
Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure (preferred).
