The Principal Architect, Platform Architecture - FreeWheel joins the Enterprise Architecture team to provide senior technical leadership for foundational technologies used to build, deploy, operate, and secure applications. This role involves developing platform architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, and standards while guiding decisions on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, serverless technologies, databases, networking, observability, CI/CD, and secrets management. The architect will define platform guardrails, paved roads, and golden paths to improve developer productivity and cost efficiency. Key responsibilities include applying FinOps principles to analyze cloud spending, evaluating build-versus-buy options, and shaping multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud strategies. The role requires deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, infrastructure automation, and security-by-design to solve complex technical challenges within large-scale distributed environments like AdTech or media technology.

What we're looking for
15+ years of relevant work experience.
10+ years in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, cloud architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.
Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
Deep experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, observability, databases, networking, infrastructure automation, and security-by-design.
Experience designing and evolving large-scale cloud, hybrid-cloud, or datacenter-based platforms.
Experience applying FinOps principles to architecture and platform strategy, including cloud cost analysis and total cost of ownership analysis.
Experience in large-scale distributed environments such as AdTech, FinTech, Telecom, media technology, SaaS, or marketplace platforms.
Experience with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, AI-enabled engineering tooling, or developer productivity initiatives (preferred).
