TL;DR · Principal Applied Scientist

The Principal Applied Scientist joins the Frontier Tuning team to advance large-scale model post-training and adaptation for enterprise environments. This role involves designing and developing methods to adapt foundation models—including language, vision, and multimodal models—for specific tasks like document understanding and workflow automation. The candidate will build scalable training and inference systems, implement reinforcement learning or fine-tuning techniques, and develop tools for evaluation and debugging. Key technical focuses include transformer architecture design, LoRA-style adaptation, inference-time steering, and privacy-preserving machine learning such as differential privacy. The role requires expertise in Python and machine learning frameworks like PyTorch to solve problems related to domain specialization, tool use, planning, and agentic behaviors while navigating real-world constraints like latency, safety, and policy compliance to ensure secure deployment of enterprise-ready AI systems.
