As a Prin Mechanical Design Eng within the Advanced Energy engineering team, you will drive design integrity for multiple Vessel Sealing and Dissection product lines, specifically supporting LigaSure™ and Sonicision™ products. You will be responsible for researching, planning, designing, verifying, and validating mechanical and electromechanical systems including metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines, and hydraulic or heat transfer systems. Your role involves collaborating cross-functionally with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to manage change, improve processes, and ensure safety and efficiency for both new and mature products. You will leverage specialized knowledge to solve complex problems and provide guidance as a technical expert. The work focuses on the core surgical innovations domain, ensuring high quality, reliability, and cost-effective delivery of medical technologies used in advanced energy applications.

What you'll do

  • Drive design integrity for Vessel Sealing and Dissection product lines to meet cost, quality, and reliability goals.
  • Research, design, verify, and validate mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for production.
  • Recommend technology options to improve safety, performance, efficiency, or costs for systems and processes.
  • Manage the transition of products from R&D stages to manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to support change management and process improvements.
  • Act as a technical expert to advance existing technologies or introduce new medical therapies.
  • Mentor colleagues and provide guidance or training to lower-level professionals within the engineering team.
  • Lead complex projects by determining deliverables, managing timelines, and influencing cross-functional decision-making.

What we're looking for

  • A Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A PhD with at least 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Candidates with degrees from outside the U.S. must meet specific federal requirements for international education.
  • Experience in designing, verifying, and validating mechanical or electromechanical products and systems is required.
  • Ability to manage large projects, mentor colleagues, and provide guidance to lower-level professionals is required.
  • Proficiency in cross-functional communication with Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams is required.
  • Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
