The Post Doctoral Associate Full Time (Ophthalmology Department) joins the Department of Research to conduct scientific studies, preferably in Computational Ophthalmology. This role involves developing advanced analytical models and systems to support strategic decisions while preparing technical papers for publication. The successful candidate will develop machine learning and data mining models, including deep convolutional neural networks, Transformers, large language models, Vision Language Models, and Retrieval Augmented Generation models. Key responsibilities include analyzing electronic health record data and retinal imaging, such as optical coherence tomography and fundus photographs, for automated screening of diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Required skills include programming in Python and R, proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras, and experience in genetic data analysis, manifold learning, and unsupervised clustering to identify disease phenotypes.
Conduct research on specific areas of study as assigned within the Department of Ophthalmology.
Prepare research reports and technical papers for publication in the scientific community.
Develop advanced analytical models using deep CNNs, Transformers, LLMs, VLMs, and RAG models.
Analyze electronic health record (EHR) data and retinal imaging for automated screening and diagnosis.
Perform genetic and genomic data analysis to identify disease phenotypes.
Program in Python and R using libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
Investigate the feasibility of applying various scientific principles and theories to research goals.
What we're looking for
Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, data science, or a related area.
At least two years of experience in AI, which may include experience gained during PhD studies.
At least two years of experience in biomedical data analysis, preferably in vision and ophthalmology, which may include experience gained during PhD studies.
Proficiency in programming with Python and R, including knowledge of Google Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
Skills in developing emerging AI models including deep CNNs, Transformers, LLMs, VLMs, and Foundation Models.
Skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing EHR and imaging data, including retinal imaging and genetic data.
Knowledge of developing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) models, agentic AI, and manifold learning like tSNE and UMAP.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
