What you'll do

Design and develop advanced optical and electro-optical systems for aerospace and defense applications.
Perform performance modeling and analysis for metrics like wavefront error, distortion, and image quality.
Create technical documentation including test plans, error budgets, and design review materials.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve optical performance issues during development.
Support hardware builds, laboratory demonstrations, and integration activities for sensing systems.
Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
Mentor junior engineers on optical analysis, test execution, and engineering best practices.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience, a graduate degree and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without a degree.
Ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
Experience in optical engineering design and analysis for EO/IR space-based payloads or high performance imaging systems (preferred).
Experience with the design, manufacture, integration, test, and sell-off of space-based EO/IR subsystems (preferred).
Hands-on experience with optical metrology equipment and phase retrieval techniques (preferred).
Familiarity with optical design software such as CodeV or Zemax OpticStudio (preferred).
Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab and Python (preferred).
U.S. citizens.
