Optical Systems Technical Lead, AR/VR Displays

What you'll do

• Lead architecture decisions and optical trades for novel near-to-eye display sub-systems.
• Manage the full lifecycle of optical systems including design, integration, alignment, and verification.
• Define performance requirements based on mechanical, electrical, thermal, and industrial constraints.
• Build and defend optical error budgets by allocating tolerances across components and assembly processes.
• Collaborate with process engineering to develop manufacturing methods and ground designs in production capabilities.
• Correlate model data with measured hardware performance to improve the predictability of design iterations.
• Analyze prototype and production errors to determine root causes for system failures.
• Travel internationally every one to two months to work with manufacturing teams at partner sites.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Optics.
• Relevant experience in the design, analysis, alignment, and testing of complex optical systems.
• Demonstrated ownership across the full systems-engineering lifecycle from architecture through verification and validation.
• Deep experience with optical design and analysis software such as Zemax or CODE V.
• Experience with STOP (Structural, Thermal, and Optical Performance) analysis.
• Knowledge of image quality metrics and data analysis methods.
• Experience designing diffraction-limited imaging systems in dynamic environments.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular cadence.
