The Display Module Optical Engineer joins the hardware team to drive the implementation of emerging technology platforms into final products. This role involves serving as a module lead to define requirements, manage engineering builds, and ensure mass-production readiness for advanced optical components. You will perform system-level modeling, conduct trade-space analyses, and lead optical failure analysis while collaborating with cross-functional teams and global suppliers. The work focuses on solving complex challenges in display systems by optimizing performance based on critical metrics and developing measurement methodologies. Required expertise includes optical design, characterization, and metrology. Preferred technical skills include Python, LabVIEW, JMP, MATLAB, LightTools, FDTD, Zemax, and Code V. You will navigate the complexities of display optics and module integration to deliver manufacturable solutions for next-generation interactive technologies in a fast-paced environment.
Drive module performance by defining requirements through design, validation, and mass production readiness.
Translate system-level requirements into specific optical design targets and trade-space analyses.
Plan and lead engineering builds to meet program goals and key milestones.
Develop and implement advanced performance metrics and corresponding technical specifications.
Lead optical failure analysis and drive corrective actions and mitigations.
Define measurement methodologies and data-analysis workflows with optical metrology teams.
Model system behavior to support design decisions and validate performance against critical metrics.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree.
Master's or PhD in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience in optical design and characterization, modeling, physical/geometrical optics, semiconductor optoelectronics, display technologies, sensor technologies, and statistical analysis.
Experience leading engineering builds, planning test activities, and managing module deliverables across development phases.
Experience with optical measurement systems for characterization, testing, and validation.
Proficiency with data acquisition tools (Python, LabVIEW), statistical analysis (JMP, MATLAB), and optical simulation software (LightTools, FDTD, Zemax, Code V).
Experience in module engineering, integration, or high-volume manufacturing processes.
