What you'll do
- Lead selection and optimization of manufacturing processes for Apple's product subassemblies.
- Evaluate product features for manufacturability and recommend capable processes and equipment.
- Innovate new manufacturing methods and conduct experiments to validate process capability.
- Partner with global suppliers to identify, qualify, and refine mechanical tooling and fixtures.
- Implement quality and cost improvement activities post production related to fixtures and processes.
- Develop high-efficiency inspection equipment and groundbreaking quality systems for Apple products.
- Lead the creation of specific product quality plans (PQP) appropriate to program and commodity.
What we're looking for
- Currently pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering, material science, or industrial engineering.
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments.
- Capability in developing quality plans and validating test methods.
- Deep knowledge of quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and manufacturing operations.
- Significant project management experience with problem-solving tools like design of experiments.
- Experience with mechanical enclosures, casings, plastic parts, injection molding, or automotive high-volume manufacturing.
- Technical understanding of geometric dimensioning, tolerances, and material properties.
