NPI Engineer
The NPI Engineer joins the Maritime team to support the development and production of advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for seabed exploration. This role serves as a critical bridge between design teams and manufacturing sites, ensuring new products are launched consistently across global facilities. You will be responsible for managing technical knowledge transfers, identifying process bottlenecks, and overseeing configuration management decisions. Day-to-day tasks include championing DFM, DFA, and DFX concepts, coordinating cross-functional activities between supply chain and quality teams, and managing engineering change workflows like ECR/ECO. The role requires expertise in manufacturing processes, quality systems such as Lean or Six Sigma, and proficiency with tools like Confluence or SharePoint. You will solve complex production challenges by creating standardized knowledge transfer frameworks to ensure high-quality assembly of subsea robotics in a fast-paced environment.
Manage the transition of new products from initial development sites to high-volume production facilities.
Design and implement standardized knowledge transfer frameworks including checklists, templates, and stage-gate reviews for multiple sites.
Champion DFM, DFA, and DFX principles within the engineering pipeline to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Act as the primary point of contact for all technical knowledge transfers at the Quonset site.
Manage engineering change workflows (ECR/ECO) including phase-in and phase-out timelines for production.
Coordinate cross-functional activities between engineering, supply chain, quality, and production teams to meet deadlines.
Mentor and train technicians at receiving sites to ensure they become self-sufficient subject matter experts.
Identify and resolve process bottlenecks and project dependencies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing or product integration environment.
At least 3 years of experience directly involved in New Product Introduction (NPI).
Demonstrated experience leading the transfer of a product or process from one manufacturing site to another.
Hands-on experience with modern manufacturing processes and quality systems such as Lean, Six Sigma, or AS9100.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to influence and lead teams without direct authority.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
