Modeling & Simulation Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain physics-based and empirical models of the satellite power system.
• Build simulation frameworks to predict battery state of charge, solar array generation, and thermal-electrical coupling.
• Create degradation models for battery capacity fade and solar array efficiency loss using lab and flight data.
• Develop orbit-level simulations that ingest mission plans and orbital parameters to predict future behavior.
• Correlate model predictions against on-orbit telemetry to identify gaps and improve model fidelity.
• Integrate models into operational services like the Power Digital Twin and hardware-in-the-loop testbeds.
• Perform parametric studies and sensitivity analyses to support design decisions for next-generation satellite configurations.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
• 3+ years of experience developing physics-based or data-driven models for electrical, power, thermal, or electromechanical systems.
• 3+ years of proficiency in Python or Matlab for numerical simulation, data analysis, and model development.
• Experience validating models against experimental or operational data.
• Experience modeling battery systems, solar array performance, or orbital mechanics impacts on spacecraft power budgets.
• Experience building scalable simulation pipelines and familiarity with cloud-based data infrastructure like AWS.
• Proficiency in version control (Git) and reproducible computational workflows using Jupyter or containerized environments.
