TL;DR · Manufacturing Technology Specialist, Material Handling & Warehouse Automation

Manufacturing Technology Specialist - Material Handling & Warehouse Automation works within the Engineering organization to identify, develop, and implement automation solutions across manufacturing sites and distribution centers. The role involves managing the full project lifecycle, including assessing material flow, creating process maps, performing capacity modeling, and conducting business case evaluations. You will design and deploy technologies such as AGVs, AMRs, AS/RS, conveyors, sortation systems, and robotic material handling. Key responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams to define technical specifications, collaborating with suppliers for equipment selection, and integrating automation with WMS, WES, MES, and ERP systems. The position requires expertise in industrial engineering, Lean methods, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software interfaces. This role solves critical operational challenges by improving throughput, reducing bottlenecks, enhancing safety, and ensuring scalable, repeatable material movement across diverse manufacturing environments.

What you'll do

  • Identify and develop material handling and warehouse automation opportunities across manufacturing sites and distribution centers.
  • Analyze and optimize material flow to improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Create process maps, labor flow analyses, simulations, and business cases to evaluate investment priorities.
  • Design scalable automation solutions using technologies like AGVs, AMRs, AS/RS, conveyors, and robotic systems.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle including planning, installation, commissioning, testing, and performance validation.
  • Partner with IT/OT teams to integrate equipment with WMS, WES, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and work hands-on with suppliers to resolve implementation barriers.
  • Establish standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and best practices for multi-site deployment.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering.
  • Five years of experience in material handling, warehouse automation, intralogistics, or industrial/manufacturing engineering.
  • Five years of experience analyzing and improving material flow, capacity, labor utilization, and throughput using Lean methods.
  • Five years of experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional partners to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by export control laws (U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or protected status).
  • Hands-on experience designing, integrating, commissioning, or troubleshooting intralogistics automation systems (preferred).
  • Experience with material-flow simulation, discrete-event simulation, digital manufacturing, or optimization tools (preferred).
  • Experience integrating automation with warehouse, manufacturing, and enterprise systems like WMS, WES, MES, or ERP (preferred).
