As a Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) on Apple’s Operations and Supply Chain team, you will play a critical role in developing key mechanical manufacturing processes for the iPhone. You will innovate on assembly fixtures through CAD conceptualization to reduce costs and improve yields, work closely with engineering teams to identify automation needs, and create proof of concept designs. Additionally, you will manage detailed design reviews, execute proof of concepts, and coordinate with overseas counterparts to ensure timely project completion while maintaining deep knowledge of equipment capabilities and process drivers. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in mass production applications, expertise in CAD for mechanical components, and a background in engineering, along with fluency in English and Mandarin being advantageous.

What you'll do

Drive automation and fixture design for key manufacturing processes.
Innovate on assembly fixture designs to reduce costs and improve yields.
Collaborate with engineering teams to identify automation needs and opportunities.
Develop modular component fixturing designs for reuse across product generations.
Provide onsite technical support during FAT/SAT, stress runs, and production ramp.
Coordinate activities with overseas counterparts to ensure timely project completion.

What we're looking for

5+ years experience in automation, robotics applications, and fixture design for mass production.
Expertise in machine and fixture design, including vision systems, motion control, and sensors.
Proficient in CAD for mechanical components, assemblies, and precision fixtures using GD&T practices.
BS/MS degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, automation, mechatronics, robotics).
Experience designing scalable, modular fixtures for reuse across multiple product generations.
