Manufacturing Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Drive automation and fixture design activities including machine design, vision systems, and control components.
• Create CAD conceptual designs for assembly fixtures to reduce costs and improve part yields.
• Develop modular fixture designs to ensure equipment can be reused across multiple product generations.
• Evaluate automation requirements, create RFP packages, and conduct cost/ROI analysis for manufacturing projects.
• Provide onsite technical support during FAT/SAT, stress runs, and production ramps to ensure equipment capability.
• Design precision fixtures for specialized processes like laser welding, dispensing, and insert molding.
• Conduct R&D activities with internal and external partners to achieve step-change improvements in process capability.
• Coordinate with overseas counterparts to manage risks and ensure timely completion of manufacturing deliverables.

What we're looking for

• BS/MS degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, automation, mechatronics, robotics, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in automation, robotics applications, and fixture design for mass production.
• Expertise in machine and fixture design.
• Experience designing, deploying, and project managing automated lines with vision systems, motion control, and sensors.
• Extensive experience using CAD to design mechanical components and precision fixtures using GD&T practices.
• Ability to perform data analysis using statistical methods such as process capability, correlation, and GR&R.
• Expertise in vision-guided assembly, precision dispense, laser welding, and industrial robots or PLCs.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time both domestically and internationally.
