Manufacturing Design Engineer

What you'll do

• Drive automation and fixture design activities including machine design, vision, controls, and component fixturing for manufacturing processes.
• Create technical requirements, RFP packages, and cost estimates to evaluate automation capabilities and commercial viability.
• Develop modular fixture designs to ensure components can be reused across multiple product generations.
• Provide onsite technical support during FAT/SAT, stress runs, and production ramps to ensure equipment capability and productivity.
• Conduct R&D activities with in-house and industry partners to achieve step-change improvements in process capability.
• Design precision fixtures for advanced automation stations such as laser welding, dispensing, and insert molding.
• Validate new fixture designs through rigorous testing and iteration to improve part quality and yield.
• Coordinate with overseas counterparts to manage project timelines, mitigate risks, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

What we're looking for

• BS/MS degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, automation, mechatronics, robotics, or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in automation, robotics applications, and fixture design for mass production.
• Expertise in machine and fixture design.
• Experience designing and managing automated lines incorporating machine vision, motion control, and sensors.
• Extensive experience using CAD to design mechanical components and precision fixtures using GD&T practices.
• Ability to perform data analysis using statistical methods and software such as JMP or Matlab.
• Expertise in vision-guided assembly, precision dispense, laser welding, and industrial robots/PLCs.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time both domestically and internationally.
