Manager, Semantic Intelligence joins the Innovative Medicine Technology team to lead the development of semantic intelligence capabilities on the data platform. This technical leadership role involves translating complex business requirements into scalable data and AI solutions while collaborating with the Global Commercial Strategy Organization and various product teams. The manager will oversee the design, deployment, and enhancement of production-grade features using a forward-deployed engineering model. Key responsibilities include building reusable data products, managing infrastructure, and ensuring interoperability across the enterprise. Essential technical skills include Python, SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS. The role requires expertise in semantic modeling, knowledge graphs, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and vector search. This position addresses the challenge of improving data accessibility and AI readiness within a complex, regulated pharmaceutical environment to support innovative medicine initiatives.
Translate complex business requirements from stakeholders into scalable data and AI platform solutions.
Lead the technical design, development, and deployment of Semantic Intelligence capabilities on the data platform.
Execute a forward-deployed engineering model by working directly with users to move products from prototype to production.
Develop reusable data products and infrastructure to improve enterprise data accessibility and AI readiness.
Provide technical leadership across cloud computing, data engineering, metadata, and semantic technologies.
Establish engineering standards for software development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend solutions aligned with security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Manage project priorities, delivery plans, risks, and stakeholder expectations across multiple initiatives.
What we're looking for
Ph.D. with 2+ years of experience or M.S. with 5+ years of experience in a relevant technical field like Computer Science, Data Science, or AI.
Significant experience designing and deploying enterprise-scale data products, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled applications in production environments.
Experience with semantic modeling, enterprise metadata, knowledge graphs, or graph data models to connect data with business context.
Strong understanding of modern AI architectures including LLMs, RAG, vector retrieval, and responsible AI controls.
Proficiency in software engineering using Python, SQL, distributed computing, CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure automation.
Experience with cloud and data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, and Databricks.
Experience in a forward-deployed, solutions, or product engineering role involving direct collaboration with end users.
Experience in regulated industries like pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences.
