Manager, Material Planning joins the Planning team to manage material flow for rapidly iterating defense hardware, including static equipment, mobile ground equipment, and flight vehicles. This role involves managing a direct team to oversee all aspects of material planning, from forecasting and procurement to inventory control and supplier management. The manager will develop strategies to ensure continuous supply, oversee Material Requirements Plan processes, and collaborate with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Logistics departments to resolve shortages and optimize inventory levels. Key responsibilities include supporting new product introductions and providing performance metrics to stakeholders. Required skills include experience with ERP systems like Oracle or Netsuite, CRM tools like Salesforce, and technical proficiency in reading CAD data and drawings. Preferred qualifications include SQL database expertise, Tableau or Power BI reporting, and knowledge of Blue Yonder, lean manufacturing, and six sigma principles.
Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure continuous supply and optimal inventory levels.
Oversee Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and adjust plans based on production needs.
Forecast material requirements using production schedules, historical data, and future demand projections.
Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve material shortages and expedite orders to prevent production delays.
Monitor inventory levels to correct discrepancies and minimize excess or obsolete stock.
Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the material planning function.
Provide regular reporting on material status, risks, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
Ensure material availability for new product introductions in alignment with project timelines.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or business field.
8+ years of experience in a supply chain or production role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment with complex mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
1+ years of experience managing a direct team.
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Netsuite, and CRM systems like Salesforce.
Technical expertise to read documentation, drawings, and CAD data, including understanding of electronics and structural manufacturing processes.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and relocate to Costa Mesa, CA if not already local.
Master’s degree or other higher education (preferred).
Experience with SQL databases, Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview, Blue Yonder, lean manufacturing, six sigma, and ability to obtain a U.S. TS clearance (preferred).
