Manager, Interconnect Engineering leads a team within Mechanical Engineering responsible for cable, harness, connector, and related interconnect solutions supporting ruggedized electronic and electro-mechanical hardware across development, production, and sustainment phases. This leadership role involves translating business priorities into operating plans, managing workloads, and providing technical direction for shielding, grounding, routing, and interface definitions. The manager oversees the creation of drawings, models, and wiring documentation while ensuring designs meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements. Key responsibilities include mentoring engineers, coordinating with cross-functional teams like manufacturing and supply chain, and driving process improvements in tools and workflows. Candidates should possess expertise in 3D CAD, PLM systems, and configuration management. The role addresses the technical challenge of designing reliable interconnects for high-reliability products subject to demanding environmental requirements within the aerospace and defense sectors.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of interconnect engineers across multiple programs and product lines.
Manage team workload, staffing, and priorities for proposals, new product development, and production support.
Provide technical direction for cable and harness design, connector selection, shielding, grounding, and routing.
Ensure designs meet system requirements for manufacturability, reliability, cost, and schedule while maintaining documentation quality.
Oversee the creation and review of drawings, models, wiring documentation, and configuration-controlled parts lists.
Resolve hardware issues during build and production through structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Contribute to proposal development, technical risk assessments, and customer presentations regarding interconnect capabilities.
Drive process improvements in tools, workflows, and automation to increase team efficiency and reduce execution risk.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and minimum 9 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree and 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret clearance.
Experience in engineering leadership including direct people management, workload planning, performance evaluation, and coaching.
Strong background in designing cable, harness, connector, or related interconnect solutions for high-reliability hardware.
Ability to translate system requirements into technical direction, documentation, design standards, and build support.
Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience supporting aerospace, defense, ruggedized electronics, or other high-reliability products with demanding environmental requirements (preferred).
