Lead, Systems Engineer
The Lead, Systems Engineer joins the Missile Solutions Systems Engineering and Integration team to oversee the design, development, and integration of rocket and liquid propulsion systems. This role involves planning and communicating systems engineering objectives to leadership while providing coaching and training to staff. Key responsibilities include performing functional analysis, conducting system trade studies, managing project risks, and developing requirements for subsystems and components. The engineer will also lead cross-functional teams through milestone reviews and develop contract proposals. Required skills include expertise in requirements and functional analysis, risk management, and product development. The position utilizes Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies and specific tools including IBM DOORs, Cameo, and Teamwork Cloud to solve complex technical problems within the strategic missile and space vehicle propulsion domains.
Develop, allocate, and document system, subsystem, and component requirements for rocket propulsion systems.
Perform functional analysis and coordinate system trade studies to define optimized concept baselines.
Manage project risk and opportunity assessments and prepare mitigation plans.
Lead large cross-functional teams to implement project performance and achieve milestone reviews.
Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to manage complex, strategic projects.
Develop contract proposals, basis of estimates, and other artifacts to support new business capture.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to employees across the Systems Engineering and Integration departments.
Recommend improvements to existing processes, products, policies, and operating plans.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience, a Graduate Degree and 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Must have the ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance.
Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for a security clearance.
Demonstrate comprehensive experience planning and communicating Systems Engineering objectives for rocket and liquid propulsion systems.
Demonstrate subject matter expertise in requirements and functional analysis, risk management, and product development for liquid rocket systems.
Apply advanced Systems Engineering techniques, including Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies, to manage complex projects.
Demonstrate experience in IBM DOORs Cameo and Teamwork Cloud (preferred).
Possess an active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance (preferred).
