Lead Software Engineer - Python/Java AI joins the Corporate Sector Technology team to build and deliver secure, scalable technology products within an agile environment. This role involves architecting resilient, low-latency services, managing multiple deliverables across business groups, and mentoring a development team in high-pressure scenarios. The engineer will develop ML pipelines for fraud detection and risk assessment, productionize models from data scientists, and build agentic AI services to automate engineering workflows. Key responsibilities include establishing AI-assisted engineering practices and implementing guardrails for model safety. Technical requirements include over ten years of experience with JPython, Java, J2EE, Spring Boot microservices, and Linux environments. The role requires expertise in Kubernetes, Kafka or MQ messaging, REST APIs, and NoSQL databases like Cassandra, alongside proficiency in ML platform components, feature engineering, and observability tools such as ELK or Splunk.
Architect and implement resilient, scalable, and low-latency microservices using Java or Spring Boot.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Build and mature ML pipelines for fraud detection and risk assessment.
Develop agentic AI services to automate and enhance engineering and model-ops workflows.
Design and own reusable ML platform components including feature stores and delivery pipelines.
Implement guardrails and evaluation approaches for agentic AI in production environments.
Lead and mentor the development team while managing multiple deliverables across business groups.
Ensure all deployed services meet enterprise requirements for security, performance, and auditability.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
10+ years of hands-on software development experience in large-scale distributed systems using JPython/Java/J2EE and modern Java/Spring Boot microservices.
3+ years of experience developing in Linux environments.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Strong experience with REST APIs, service-oriented architecture, and Kubernetes orchestration for production services.
Expertise in messaging platforms like Kafka or MQ and backend infrastructure patterns such as load balancing and autoscaling.
Experience with log analytics/observability tools and AI/ML platform exposure including MLOps and feature engineering.
Strong communication skills, SDLC knowledge, agentic AI experience, NoSQL database experience, and BERT/Transformer model implementation (preferred).
