What you'll do

Lead the technical design and architecture of complex, cross-functional systems to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and automated testing.
Develop high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Identify systemic technical debt and architectural risks to develop prioritized remediation roadmaps for platform resilience.
Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews and technical upskilling to foster engineering excellence.
Translate business strategies into technical roadmaps and execution plans in partnership with stakeholders.
Manage the SDLC toolchain by implementing automation capabilities to maximize engineering throughput.
Evaluate emerging technologies and provide build, buy, or adopt recommendations to leadership.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Expert-level IBM iSeries (AS/400) development experience including DB2 for i performance optimization and capacity planning.
LANSA / Visual LANSA IDE development with experience in upgrade planning, execution, and migration strategies.
Java & Python on IBM i (PASE environment) with the ability to define integration patterns and coach team members.
Advanced debugging, root cause analysis, and leadership in HA/DR strategy and technical debt remediation.
Proficiency in Git, Aldon LMI, Robot Scheduling, ServiceNow, and advanced prompt engineering for legacy code analysis (preferred).
